Don Malfon (Alto Saxophone), Flo Stoffner (Guitar), Vasco Trilla (Drums)

"In Upper Svanetia, the population lives from sheep farming and working in quarries. Due to the weather conditions, the people are cut off from the outside world for much of the year. The influences of modernity have hardly penetrated there so far; old traditions and customs shape community life. Obtaining salt, which is vital for both humans and animals, has been a dangerous business until now; a road construction project is now set to change that." (filmdienst.de)
This visually stunning film is set to music by two Catalans, saxophonist Don Malfon and drummer Vasco Trilla, as well as Zurich guitarist Flo Stoffner, who are among the most creative and prominent exponents of European free improvisation. Having formed a trio a few years ago, Malfon, Stoffner and Trilla draw on constantly changing, surprising sounds from a seemingly inexhaustible repertoire of ideas. Their music is varied, surprising and alert, yet it sounds as if they have been playing together for decades.
