“Spring 1876. Gold has been discovered on Sioux territory, and the US government has given the green light for the rush for the precious metal. Immigrants from all over the world, a corrupt sheriff and a colourful band of bandits crowd into a place far from God and civilisation, where violence threatens to escalate at any moment. At first glance, the vast prairies, the fast-paced horse races, the convoys of wagons on the horizon and the masses of extras moving westward are unmistakable: this is John Ford territory. But the true Ford touch is found elsewhere. It lies in a female protagonist in trousers, with mischievous eyes and coquettish gestures, who nevertheless dreams of a romantic wedding. It lies in a misunderstood male lead whose charm stems from his humorous fragility. It lies in the indeterminate tone in which comedy and horror can coexist in a single image. And above all, it lies in these bearded villains who are wonderfully vulnerable, who can burst into tears and die with a smile on their faces.” (Victor Guimarães, Viennale, Oct 2025)
Los Dos are Limmat Delta Swamp Blues guitarist and singer Han Sue Lee Tischhauser and drummer Luca Ramella, who constantly reinvent themselves in humorous ways. Armed with guitar, ukulele and drums, the two musicians manage to transport their audience to a wild west turned upside down in no time at all. For the soundtrack to John Ford's classic 3 Bad Men, they team up with cellist Ambrosius Huber and bassist Flo Götte.
Following the screening, we invite you to join us for drinks in the foyer.
