Louise Brooks: Diary of a Lost Girl

Alongside Greta Garbo - with whom she is rumoured to have had a love affair – American actress Louise Brooks is probably the most famous icon of the silent films era. While Garbo started her career in Europe and then took it to the USA, with Brooks, it was exactly the other way round. At the height of her success she was engaged to Berlin by Georg Wilhelm Pabst. With the resulting two films, “Die Büchse der Pandora” ('Pandora’s Box‘) and “Tagebuch einer Verlorenen”, she reached the height of her success. Her second German film followed the life of Marie, alias Thymian, which takes a tragic turn after the birth of an illicit child and then goes on to expose the hypocrisy and dishonesty of society.

The live music performance features saxophonist Nicole Johänntgen, cellist Claudia Kühne and pianist Yves Theiler for the first time together on stage. Plenty of reason to be curious – as much for the musical interpretation of this silent film as for the interaction between these three musicians.
