A Faustian Temptation from Outer Space

A silent film from 1920 with improvised music from today, in the middle of the "ARS TERMINI" exhibition of contemporary art, and an introductory talk with a great Swiss writer: the complex conclusion to the series. Hans Werckmeister's magnificent, recently restored film meets the subtle art of jazz trumpeter Tom Arthurs and the IG Halle exhibition at the Kunst(Zeug)Haus Rapperswil, which revolves around the term "Ars termini": art, including the absurdity of borders. Borderline experiences and border crossings in visual, auditory and cinematographic dimensions merge into one another in this concert. We are very much looking forward to our first collaboration with the Musiksommer am Zürichsee.

The silent film about a Faustian temptation from outer space will be set to music by renowned British jazz trumpeter Tom Arthurs, who has headed the Jazz and Contemporary Music Department at the HKB since 2018. He will be collaborating with Italian sound artist Marta Zapparoli and Swiss drummer Michael Cina for the first time.
