"Abgründe" is the story of a young woman who leaves her fiancé for a circus performer. In the aftermath, however, she fails to stop him from flirting with other beauties despite the most erotic dance in early film history. The first film by the legendary Danish theatre director Urban Gad became a worldwide success and made Asta Nielsen's sensual acting art suddenly known far beyond the borders of Denmark.
