The siblings Tyltyl and Myltyl are summoned by the fairy to go on a search for the mythical blue bird of fortune. She hands Tyltyl a magic hat which will allow him to look into the inside of all things. Their journey takes them through marvellous worlds, animated objects, the palace of fortune and the kingdom of things to come…
The Felley/Meyer/Eschmann Trio lures us into the work of Maurice Tourneur and its Mélièsque movements between reality and expressionist fairytale. The woven soundscape of pleading viola and clarinet, underlain by a whirl of percussion, draws us irresistibly into the search of good fortune.
