When the revolution is in the bucket...

"Le Révélateur" is one of the first films by Philippe Garrel, a French director from the environment of the Nouvelle Vague. It was shot shortly after May 1968 and was made out of the hangover of these events but can be enjoyed intuitively without knowledge of the context. And it is a silent film in black and white. A couple and their child flee a formless and unspeakable threat. A film without laughter or whispers. In a landscape of desolation, humidity and humiliation, one sees the weakest being rebel: the child. Or in the words of the director himself, "I made this small, dreamlike, nomadic film about the family probably because, since the revolution was in the bucket, there was no point talking about politics anymore."

Filmpodium and IOIC - Institute of Incoherent Cinematography present this silent film from the talkies era with a live score by the new duo with renowned Canadian-Lebanese producer, singer, lute player and electronic musician Radwan Ghazi Moumneh, also known as Jerusalem in My Heart, and the Transylvanian-Swiss singer, electronic musician and cellist Réka Csiszér, herself known for the experimental solo project Víz, the electronic duo Bitter Moon and as the singer of Zurich local heroes The Pussywarmers & Réka.
